A favourite of powder, backcountry and big mountain skiers, the 4FRNT KYE 110 is shaped to be your freeride ski-of-choice, however take them on firmer snow and you’ll realise they could very well become your everyday ski-of-choice. The tapered and rockered tip accommodates ease of control in powder yet the GS style turn radius provides stability and a trusty no-hook feel for hard charging through the crud.

Slightly stiffer than mid-flex, they’re ideal for advanced intermediates and above who want a freeride/all-mountain ski which leans towards responsive performance but still retains enough flex to keep them fun and forgiving.

Built around 4FRNT’s Pop Core; a combination of Poplar and Paulownia woods, giving the core an incredible strength-to-weight ratio without compromising flex, response and power. This is then layered with directional fibreglass laminates on the top and bottom which help to give the core a consistent and even flex pattern, whilst also directing power input towards the edges of the ski for increased response and sustained edge hold. Topped off with tip-to-tail carbon stringers for unrivalled pop and rebound.

The Kye 110 also features Vibe Veil Technology, an elastic polymer membrane situated in the tips of the nose and tail. This dramatically reduces chatter and weak edge hold in firm snow conditions, a common bi-product of reverse camber profiles.

The topsheet is bonded to the core using semi-cap construction. This method of pressing partially folds the topsheet over the edges of the ski where it’s fused with the sidewall. This reduces the instances of topsheet delamination and unsightly chips while also helping to bolster the edges against side impacts from rails, rocks, trees and unseen threats. This is complemented by shock absorbing ABS sidewalls which help to deflect impact with rails, boxes, rocks and tree trunks which would normally cause unseen core damage, edge dings or worse, blowouts.

The super-fast sintered base features a carbon infusion which provides reduced friction and increased wax absorption over standard sintered bases, meaning you can charge faster on the mountain and go longer between services.

Topped off with hybrid camber; reverse camber at the contact points in the nose and tail dramatically reduces the chance of catching your edges on hard pack, gives the ski extra lift in powder and helps to make butters and presses easier. Whilst traditional camber underfoot keeps the ski controlled and manageable on firmer snowpack.

What we say: “Thanks to its versatile 110mm waist, when paired with a set of frame bindings, the 4FRNT KYE 110 are the ideal setup for free-touring aficionados. Light enough to lessen the burden on hikes, yet burly enough to destroy your descent turns. Not limited to touring however, the KYE 110 are also the perfect choice for skiers who want a resort ski that leans towards sidecountry powder hits.”

Size Guide

The size chart below provides a basic guide to finding the right ski length based on your height and ability but there are several other factors you should consider before choosing your new skis!

The two most relevant considerations when interpreting the chart below are your weight and the type of skiing you intend to do.

Weight: If you’re a heavier built that the average person of your height then we suggest choosing a longer ski as a heavier skier requires more edge to grip the snow and more base area for floatation in powder and cruddy snow.  Conversely, if you’re a slimmer build you may want to consider going for a shorter ski as you’ll need less edge / ski to support your weight than someone of an ‘average’ build.

Skier Type: Secondly, if you want a ski that’s going to inspire confidence when you’re skiing fast and you like to ski faster than most, then a longer ski is going to be preferable.   The additional edge and float provided by a longer ski will give you a more stable ride.  If, however, you’re more freestyle focussed and you want a ski that’s going to be more nimble and easier to manoeuvre at low speeds then a slightly shorter ski will work better for you as there will be less ski to manage.

If you have any queries at all on finding the right ski or ski size for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further advice.
