One of our all-time faves, it blends all the fun of a park ski with the performance of a piste ski while, crucially, remaining cool

Since day one, Armada’s ARV range has stood as a testament to what a true all-terrain ski should be. Powerful and agile, stable and responsive, with an emphasis on fun and playfulness. The 2018 Armada ARV 96, with that versatile 96mm waist, is as comfortable on and off the piste as it is in the park, able to handle all three domains without making significant sacrifices in any. Slightly stiffer than mid-flex, they lean towards performance while still offering plenty of forgiveness making them the deal progression tool for intermediate and advanced skiers looking for that elusive one-ski quiver.

A light yet powerful core and versatile profile

Built around Armada’s Pop-lite wood core, with high-density hardwood stringers, the ARV is a super lively and poppy ski, while Spin Tip construction in the nose and tail reduces swing weight, keeping the ski balanced and agile. The AR Freestyle rocker blends reverse camber in the nose and tails with traditional positive camber underfoot, allowing the ski to charge through chop and pow while still being able to hold a solid carve on the hard pack. Clever Elf-shoe reverse sidecut help to deliver the float of a larger ski with the turn radius of a shorter, narrower one.

The durability to last and last

The AR50 Sidewall partially sidewall, partially cap for a blend of edge hold, reduced weight and durability. cap construction in the tip and tail with full sidewall underfoot. This helps to balance performance with reduced swing-weight and increased durability. A little more flex in the nose and tail helps with turn initiation and exit, while a the super-fast S7 base will have you charging in no time. Want to take it to the rails? No problem – you’ll be armed with Armada’s chunkiest 2.5mm Impact Edge for ultimate protection. The ARV 96 can do it all.

Size Guide

The size chart below provides a basic guide to finding the right ski length based on your height and ability but there are several other factors you should consider before choosing your new skis!

The two most relevant considerations when interpreting the chart below are your weight and the type of skiing you intend to do.

Weight: If you’re a heavier built that the average person of your height then we suggest choosing a longer ski as a heavier skier requires more edge to grip the snow and more base area for floatation in powder and cruddy snow.  Conversely, if you’re a slimmer build you may want to consider going for a shorter ski as you’ll need less edge / ski to support your weight than someone of an ‘average’ build.

Skier Type: Secondly, if you want a ski that’s going to inspire confidence when you’re skiing fast and you like to ski faster than most, then a longer ski is going to be preferable.   The additional edge and float provided by a longer ski will give you a more stable ride.  If, however, you’re more freestyle focussed and you want a ski that’s going to be more nimble and easier to manoeuvre at low speeds then a slightly shorter ski will work better for you as there will be less ski to manage.

If you have any queries at all on finding the right ski or ski size for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further advice.
