FRONTSIDE PERFORMANCE WITH A FREESTYLE ALTER-EGO – BLACK CROWS DON’T TECHNICALLY MAKE A PARK SKI, BUT THE CAPTIS IS AS CLOSE AS YOU’RE GOING TO GET

OK, so you’ve mastered parallel turns, you’re confident going head first down reds and you’re looking for a ski to progress on – the Captis is your gateway into new realms. A frontside ski by design, the Captis is most at home on groomed slopes, in firmer conditions or - if you’re that way inclined - the terrain park. It’s a ski which is intended for improving intermediates – the flex, turn radius and camber profile all lend themselves well to progression.

Get good, son

Sketchy intermediate or competent novice – we’ve all been there. Getting better is a combination of perseverance and having the right kit. Black Crows can’t help you with the former, but they’ve got the latter dialled with the Captis. The mellow flex gives you at least a fighting chance of recovering from scrappy mistakes, while its premium construction is sure to outlive your time on the skis – meaning they’ll comfortably last you right up until you’re ready to take the leap onto something bigger, wider, stiffer or gnarlier.

Future spin, pretzel, press… what?

If you’ve just started finding your feet on snow and freestyle’s caught your eye, then the Captis is a great starting point for your first forays into the park. As well as dampening harsh vibrations and preventing edge catch on-piste, the mellow flex and rockered tip/tail have the added advantage of being regular features in park skis. The mid-flex is perfect for rails, boxes and kicker landings, while the rocker stops hang-ups on presses and butters. And because they’re not “technically” a park ski, you’re free to come and go as you please – feeling a day on the piste over a day of faceplants, no problem, that’s just what the Captis wants too.

As part of Black Crow’s all-mountain family, the Captis are designed to tackle the entire mountain with style and ease. Narrower than the skis in the big mountain range, they’re principally for use frontside, but their double-rocker profile also gives you the flexibility to hit anything from sidecountry powder to wind scoured slopes and crud.
