BIG MOUNTAIN DOMINATION FROM DAY ONE - NOT ONLY HAS THE CORVUS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME, ITS CARVED THE TRACKS FOR THE REST OF THE BLACK CROWS FAMILY OF SKIS.

The archetype, the originator, the ski that started it all for Black Crows – the Corvus is as relevant now as it was back in 2006 when the company started. What’s the secret to its longevity we hear you ask? It embodies everything Black Crows is about - long, steep, deep and challenging descents that take you from mountain summit to valley floor, tackling everything from virgin slopes, wind scoured faces, tightly packed trees to sun-baked slush. Yes, we know Black Crows is a French company, but the Corvus really are the Swiss Army Knife of big mountain riding.

Complete control whatever the conditions

Designed to take you from peak to resort through powder, crud, groomers and everything in-between, the Black Crows Corvus are the ultimate freeride skis. At 109mm underfoot, they’re sitting on the wider side of the all-mountain sweet-spot, but the upshot is you get heaps more float and stability in deeper conditions. The low-rise tail and long effective edge ensure the Corvus has rock solid edge-hold in treacherous terrain, while the stiff flex underfoot tapers to slightly softer flex in the tip and tail, providing responsive power across the main body with a touch of shock absorbing forgiveness in the extremities.

Batten down the hatches

Known for its bomber durability and reliable flex and pop, the Corvus utilises poplar throughout its core to achieve an even and consistent flex pattern from nose to tail. The core’s then layered with both bi-directional and tri-directional fibreglass, which runs the full length of the ski, enhancing the poplar’s natural pop and recoil. Wrapped in a semi-cap sidewall and fused with shock absorbing ABS sidewall underfoot, the Corvus is insured against topsheet delamination and unsightly chips whilst also fortifying it against side impacts. Throw in some overbuilt, tempered steel edges - which are thicker than those on regular skis – and the Corvus boasts an impressive array of damage prevention.

To typecast the Corvus as exclusively a big mountain ski would be a mistake, despite its freeride leanings it’s by no means limited to waist deep descents. As comfortable on-piste as it is off it, the Corvus is the perfect platform for freeride domination across all terrains.

Size Guide

The size chart below provides a basic guide to finding the right ski length based on your height and ability but there are several other factors you should consider before choosing your new skis!

The two most relevant considerations when interpreting the chart below are your weight and the type of skiing you intend to do.

Weight: If you’re a heavier built that the average person of your height then we suggest choosing a longer ski as a heavier skier requires more edge to grip the snow and more base area for floatation in powder and cruddy snow.  Conversely, if you’re a slimmer build you may want to consider going for a shorter ski as you’ll need less edge / ski to support your weight than someone of an ‘average’ build.

Skier Type: Secondly, if you want a ski that’s going to inspire confidence when you’re skiing fast and you like to ski faster than most, then a longer ski is going to be preferable.   The additional edge and float provided by a longer ski will give you a more stable ride.  If, however, you’re more freestyle focussed and you want a ski that’s going to be more nimble and easier to manoeuvre at low speeds then a slightly shorter ski will work better for you as there will be less ski to manage.

If you have any queries at all on finding the right ski or ski size for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further advice.
