Jamie Matthew is a long serving member of the Freeze Team – first hooked up many years ago as a freeskier with serious skills – so it’s a real pleasure to introduce him as one of our new Freeze Staff Photographers. Plying his trade as a team rider with Faction and Haglöfs, Jamie was well know for his style in the air and the support he offered for his fellow team members. After a particularly grim crash in 2012 which involved shattering both his heels and lengthy rehabilitation, he effortlessly made the transition from athlete to coach. He’s now a highly-respected GB Park & Pipe Freeski Team Coach, developing and nurturing talent in the UK’s very best freeskiers and guiding them to one of their best seasons ever. Jamie’s journeys with the GB Team take him all over the world, and he regularly finds himself in just the right place to get some amazing photos.
“I’ve known the guys at Freeze for what seems like an age now. It’s been one of those long term releationships that just seems to happily tick away in the background, always reliable and there when you need it most. Having spent the better part of 12 years chasing various winters across all corners of the globe, I’ve experienced my fair share of ups and downs. Freeze and the guys behind it have remained one of the few constants throughout this time, always offering support and honest advice. I couldn’t be more excited to have their continued backing and support as I try to document a life spent on the road.”
We’re stoked to continue our relationship with Jamie in his new role, and you can keep up with him with exclusive content on our instagram page @freezeproshop.
