Iguchi, April and Reid come north of the wall
Arbor Snowboards is hands-down one of our favourite brands. The use of natural wood veneers, and the hours of love and craftsmanship that goes into each of their boards gives the finished product an almost unrivalled feeling of quality.
And it’s with that quality that they’re able to attract some of the biggest and best names in the world of snowboarding. Riders like the man, the myth, the legend, Bryan Iguchi – freestyle pioneer turned pow slayer, artist and all around good guy – along with the French-Canadian duo of street supremo Frank April and super-talented all-rounder Charles Reid.
We were super stoked to have all three visit our brand-new Edinburgh store to debut their latest film, Cosa Nostra, a few weeks ago – and because snow is still to bless us with its presence here in Scotland, we took the guys on a little bit of an alternative tour to sample some of the drinks, dungeons and dryslope that our fair nation has to offer.
We’d have loved to show the boys the beauty of Glencoe or take them on a tour off the top of Ben Lawers à la Right to Roam, but such is life. When you hear that a trio of riders like this is in the country, you do what you can to coax them north of the wall. And it turns out that the best we could do was to introduce them to the obscure wonder of dryslope, show them around our new store, and take them on a little tour of the capital’s finest tourist attractions and drinking dens.
Some of what ensued was captured on camera. Some was not. Some should have been. Some is probably best left to the imagination. The image of Frank April dancing cheek-to-cheek at the late-night jazz bar with a selection of random men shall remain indelibly etched to the memories of those who can vaguely remember being there – the rest of you will need to make do with our fun little edit.
We can’t wait for the next time that the guys swing by – there were big plans afoot to come back for more dryslope and a touring mission or two – but in the meantime, if any of you guys want to come and visit, we’d love to have you. Next time you’re in Edinburgh, make sure you say hi!

Thanks to the lovely people at Arbor Collective for the good times, Neil MacGrain Photography for the awesome shots, Bearsden Ski Club for the plastic, Tempest Beer for the refreshments, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society for the tasting and The Real Mary King's close for, well, the underground weirdness and not telling us to do one when we were about an hour late. Above all, thanks for helping us to put this together - until next time!
