Patagonia are a world-leader in ethical business, committed to delivering the highest quality products, that last you a lifetime and cause no unnecessary harm to the planet or her citizens. Their range of technical outerwear, layers, activewear, apparel, wetsuits and bags are some of the most sought-after and well-respected in the worlds of skiing, snowboarding, surfing, climbing and mountaineering.
Environmentally-conscious, top-level athletes and expeditions all trust Patagonia to provide kit that’s beautifully crafted and incredibly durable, able to stand up to hard wear and testing conditions, year-in, year out. They’re safe in the knowledge that everything from the sourcing of raw materials through to the construction, shipping and sale, has been done with the utmost respect for planet and people.
Commited to new environmentally-conscious technologies
Patagonia are at the cutting edge of research and design in more ways than you’d find with other brands that operate in the same industries. They’re one of the first brands to introduce wetsuits made from renewable natural rubber. Using Hevea trees from Northern Guatemala, the manufacture of their wetsuits produces around 80 percent less CO2 than traditional non-renewable neoprene.
They’ve pioneered techniques for ethical jacket insulation too. Patagonia Nano Puff jackets use 55% recycled polyester insulation which they reckon will keep more than two million plastic bottles out of landfill in a year. If you’re a fan of natural down, they’ve introduced the concept of using down recycled from old insulated products like duvets and pillows too.
Giving something back to society
Most of what Patagonia does is pretty inspirational – from donating all their Black Friday profits to charity, to giving 1% of all sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment. They even started their own venture capital fund, to help small, socially-responsible start-up companies get the investment they need to grow.
We’re big fans here at Freeze – of their products and the way they do business – so if you’re looking for your next technical jacket or a new environmentally-friendly wetsuit, look no further than Patagonia.
