Featuring a soft and poppy camber that’s perfect for taking what you learn in the park to the entire mountain, the Burton Descendant gives you all-mountain freestyle dominance for budget-beating affordability. Its true twin shaping allows you to ride in either direction with equal control, while its softer flex keeps the board forgiving and playful without compromise on stability or edge control thanks to its catch-free feel hybrid camber.

Sitting comfortably between soft and mid-flex, the Descendant is a great choice for first time buyers and intermediates who are looking for a good board to start out on or progress their freestyle skill.

Built around Burton’s Superfly II 800g core, a full wood construction that substitutes heavier woods for lighter weight species which offer fantastic strength-to-weight ratio. While the triaxial woven fibreglass matrix helps to fine tune the board’s torsional flex.

The core also features Dual-zone EGD design; running the full length of the toe and heel-side edges, wood laminates are rotated 90-degrees perpendicular to the core. This reduces response time by directing pressure straight out to the edges of the snowboard, enhancing control and edge-hold by eliminating core flex. This is topped off with Squeezebox profile, this patent-pending technology improves pop and performance by balancing thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections. Power is transferred outward from beneath the feet to the tip and tail, making the board snappier, more stable and easier to manipulate.

The Descendant features Burton’s Channel mounting system which replaces traditional binding screw-inserts with a milled channel, giving you a stronger, faster, easier and more adjustable binding-to-board interface. The Channel is compatible with all major binding brands and gives you ultimate control of your stance.

The fully extruded base provides durable, impact resistant performance which lasts significantly longer between services than sintered bases. This means you can throw more abuse its way without having to worry about repairing or maintaining the base regularly.

Pro-Tip technology utilises a tapered nose and tail profile to reduce the snowboard’s swing weight. By centring the core’s weight underfoot less effort is required to initiate and exit turns, slow kicker rotations and balance on rails and boxes.

The perfectly symmetrical Twin Flex gives the Name Dropper a balanced ride that’s intuitive whether ridden regular or switch. Jib, spin, huck and butter with a greater balance of freestyle ability and stability no matter which way you ride it. This is complemented by a hybrid camber profile, Zero/flat camber at the contact points enhances the board’s stability, whilst the traditional camber under foot maintains solid and predictable edge-hold through the turn.

What we say: “Buying your first board can be confusing. There’s an awful lot of baffling technologies and designs out there when, quite simply, all you want is a snowboard you can trust and which won’t restrict you. Burton have perfected that formula in the Descendant, blending great construction with progression assisting technologies at a wallet-friendly price tag.”
