The Capita Kazu Kokubo Pro isn’t just another powder board; it’s quick, manoeuvrable and will slash the backcountry like nothing else in Capita’s line-up. While many great powder boards are large and surfy, the Kazu Pro comes in a compact chassis with a powder nose and a slightly tapered tail meaning it’s as versatile on-piste.

Flexing between stiff and mid-flex, it’s best suited for advanced intermediates and above who want a board which will comfortably go from waist deep powder and backcountry kickers to narrow chutes and piste laps.

Built around Capita’s super lightweight Panda core, comprised of an even blend of Poplar and Paulownia wood, inlaid with strategically placed bamboo power rods. This provides high performance with huge energy rebound and great impact absorption in a lightweight and versatile core.

The board’s edges feature shock absorbing ABS construction for impact resistance and vibration dampening and are finished with a full, lightweight bamboo sidewall. This is complemented and bolstered against impact by the heat treated, hardened steel edge rails. The

The core also features state of the art, computer engineered carbon arcs. These 20mm carbon arcs are constructed utilising an all new carbon shaping process. After extensive lab work analysing how a particular shape reacts to the dynamics of riding, each piece of pre-shaped and pre-laminated carbon fibre is produced to Capita’s exact standards to enhance the distinctive ride feel of each board. This promotes fantastic power transfer with great rebound and poppy performance.

The Kazu Pro utilises Capita’s Dynaweave woven fibreglass laminates; triaxial fibreglass on the top of the core with biaxial fibreglass beneath, creating more response while significantly increasing the board’s overall strength and durability. The topsheet is bonded to the core using Capita’s specialised “Bi-resin,” a marine grade resin which is poppy, powerful, and extremely durable. B-Resin forms a much stronger and more rigid bond allowing Capita to decrease the core’s thickness. This means you save wood core weight by increasing resin performance, resulting in a lighter board with higher energy return.

All boards in Capita’s range feature their exclusive PLT Topsheet technology, a propriety method of bonding the topsheet to an already pressed snowboard. This process is unique to Capita, while the rest of the snowboard industry affix their topsheets with glue, heat and pressure during the pressing stage. Doing so causes the fiberglass structure underneath to show through the topsheet and because nobody wants to spend their hard earned cash on an unsightly bumpy snowboard, many companies then slather the topsheet with a thick toxic lacquer to smooth things out. Not only does this add lots of additional weight and has been know to develop unsightly hairline cracks it’s also very toxic on the environment. Capita’s PLT machine produces a featherlight, smooth, high-gloss finish, without all the pollutants found in other snowboard’s manufacture.

The fully sintered base features Capita’s Omega Mark II speed base, made with a blend of compressed ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. The Mark II upgrades include improved transparency and increased density. Sintered for speed, this base is highly porous, absorbing more wax to wick longer and extremely fast. The base is then topped off with a titanal inlay, a high strength hardened aluminium alloy with excellent compression strength to weight ratios, which gives the base bomb-proof structural reinforcement.

The Kazu Pro features Capita’s Mountain V3 profile. A lower-profile camber underfoot and through to the tail with a reverse cambered nose. This allows for maximum turning power while increasing float and landing stability. The camber runs deep into the tail providing enhanced performance while utilising traditional tip and tail scoops.

Every board in Capita’s line is also designed with four unique blend zones. This is the area after the sidecut ends and before the nose or tail shape starts. In this small section, the shape of the board must transition from a sidecut arc going one direction, into the tip shape arc going in the opposite direction. This very important section of the board is similar to the steering in your car. It's the driving force in initiating turns and determining where your board is going. A poorly designed blend zone will cause your board to be hooky or turn slowly and can limit your ability to transition between edges. Capita has taken the time to pay distinct attention to this detail; fine-tuning each and every board to make sure your riding experience is balanced and perfect.

On top of the blend zones, the Kazu Pro benefits from Capita’s Flat Kick design technology, a tightened tip profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the nose and tail height on reverse camber boards. The tight tip radius in conjunction with tuned blend zones allows you to have a forgiving, easy to ride reverse camber board that is still responsive and quick during edge-to-edge transitions. This also creates a flat nose and tail which increases jibbing stability, aids butters & presses and also helps the board to plane on top of powder creating float and control.

What we say: “Powder boards have traditionally been seen as problematic rather than functional, every day boards. If the snow’s bad, they tend to lack the precision and control for groomers and resort riding; the Kazu Pro aims to change that with its refined shape and powerful camber underfoot through the tail. It absolutely rips powder when you get it but won’t hinder you on a bad snow day.”
