As a three-time Transworld Good Wood Award winner and star of endless video segments, no board is more dependable than Capita’s team favourite, the Ultrafear. Bolstered against impact thanks to its long-list of tech, it’ll take a torrent of abuse from rails, jibs and unseen rocks while simultaneously making short work of manmade and natural features alike.

Coming in bang on mid-flex, the Ultrafear is a great choice for intermediate riders and up who want a freestyle orientated all-mountain board which has bags of impact protection and perfectly balances response and playfulness.

Built around Capita’s super lightweight P2 core, comprised of an even blend of Poplar and Paulownia wood, which provides high performance with huge energy rebound and great impact absorption in a lightweight and versatile core. The core also features Capita’s Kevlar & Titanal Body Armour technology. Kevlar, known for its high tensile strength, durability and thermal stability at sub-zero temperatures, is applied to the shoulders of the Ultrafear along with the high compression strength, aluminium alloy Titanal thorough the centreline. The inclusion of the Kevlar & Titanal body armour helps to take the durability and dependability of the Ultrafear to the next level.

The edges feature shock absorbing ABS sidewall construction for impact resistance and vibration dampening. This is complemented and bolstered against impact by the heat treated, hardened steel edge rails. They’re then topped off with a 1.5mm panel of cork which runs along the full length of the board’s sidecut. This provides damp, durable and lightweight dampening for increased protection from blunt force impacts.

The Ultrafear utilises Capita’s Dynaweave woven fibreglass laminates; triaxial fibreglass on the top of the core with biaxial fibreglass beneath, creating more response while significantly increasing the board’s overall strength and durability. The topsheet is bonded to the core using Capita’s “Evo Resin,” comprised of 60% plant based, renewable, agricultural raw materials produced with no waste or greenhouse emissions.

The Ultrafear features a zero and reverse camber, hybrid Freestyle profile. This versatile shape features dual reverse camber, Flat Kick freestyle shape in the nose and tail, with a completely flat section underfoot that starts and ends on the outside of the binding inserts. This shape provides stability at high speeds on groomed runs, while the elevated contact points allow for hook-free turns and float effortlessly while slashing and stomping in powder.

Every board in Capita’s line is designed with four unique blend zones. This is the area after the sidecut ends and before the nose or tail shape starts. In this small section, the shape of the board must transition from a sidecut arc going one direction, into the tip shape arc going in the opposite direction. This very important section of the board is similar to the steering in your car. It's the driving force in initiating turns and determining where your board is going. A poorly designed blend zone will cause your board to be hooky or turn slowly and can limit your ability to transition between edges. Capita has taken the time to pay distinct attention to this detail; fine-tuning each and every board to make sure your riding experience is balanced and perfect.

On top of the blend zones, the Ultrafear benefits from Capita’s Flat Kick design technology, a tightened tip profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the nose and tail height on reverse camber boards. The tight tip radius in conjunction with tuned blend zones allows you to have a forgiving, easy to ride reverse camber board that is still responsive and quick during edge-to-edge transitions. This also creates a flat nose and tail which increases jibbing stability, aids butters & presses and also helps the board to plane on top of powder creating float and control.

What we say: “The Ultrafear is a super versatile all-mountain freestyle board disguised as a jib board and it’s for that reason those in the know absolutely love it. Not only will it handle every park feature you can through its way but it’ll slash powder and thread treelines as well as the next board.”
