The jewel in the crown of the DPS range just got even better

The Wailer series is one of DPS’s most successful of recent years, and the 106 hits that en-vogue sweetspot of mid-fat all-mountain ability, making it a very popular ski indeed. The high-tech Alchemist core construction picks up where their premium, carbon-infused Pure3 left off, but introduces new chatter-reducing dampening in the laminate to give a more assured and smoother ride at high speeds and in choppy conditions. Alchemist takes what was already an exceptional ski and elevates it to an even more refined level.

All-mountain performance at a superb weight

Built around a core of lightweight Aspen, sandwiched between aerospace-grade carbon, the Wailer A106 is light and ready to tour, yet also begs to be driven hard daily at the resort, or beyond the ropes. With DPS’s Paddle Tech, you can really adapt the radii of your turns to the terrain, but with a roughly 18m sidecut and traditional camber underfoot, you’re going to get bags of edge grip and carveability on hardpack. That 106mm waist and plenty of rocker in the nose and tail will keep you floating in pow and smashing through crud from the first lift to the last.

Quality and durability as standard

DPS haven’t spared any expense on this ski. Known for being the fastest bases available, the Wailer 106 Alchemist features a high graphite content, fully-sintered, World Cup-level race PTEX – delivering maximum speed and agility, with a high level of wax absorption, abrasion resistance and durability. Hardened Rockwell 48 steel alloy edges with a wide profile bolster the edges against impact and last longer between tuning across the lifetime of the ski. Even the fully-capped polyamide topsheet features a textured surface that helps to shed snow and reduce leg fatigue when touring.

Flexing between stiff and mid-flex, the Wailer 106 Alchemist is best suited to advanced intermediate to expert skiers who want a tech-heavy, go-anywhere-do-anything ski and won’t settle for anything but the best.

The best bits…

  • Alchemist Pre-Preg Carbon Fibre Laminate with proprietary dampening technologies
  • Lightweight Full Aspen Wood Core
  • Durable UHMW sidewalls
  • Wide-profile Rockwell 48 steel edges
  • Super-fast World Cup Race Base
  • Textured Polyamide Top Sheet
  • Paddle Tech sidecut with tapered, flatter section that blends at the contact points
