Patagonia has done this by constructing them from a lighter 210D ripstop nylon, laminating them in TPU-film and then treating them with a moisture resistant DWR fabric. These Lightweight Patagonia Duffels come with a diagonal zipper that provides you with quick access to the bag's main compartment from the outside, while internally they have a handy stash pocket that doubles as a stuff sack.
