About the Salewa Alpine-X Ice Axe
The Alpine-X Ice Axe delivers a hybrid ice tool with a lightweight aluminium shaft and highly engineered carbon steel blade and adze. The 3mm blade and weighted head provide consistent penetration on hard ice routes with a supporting, sharpened adze for step cutting and route cleaning.
An ergonomically shaped head makes for a comfortable hand-rest with a replaceable carbide bottom tip giving it maximum bite and penetration in hard ice conditions. The straight shaft design offers smooth placement and great hold in a belay (deadman) situation with head and base holes offering a choice of carabiner placement.
