About the Shimoda Explore Starter Kit
The Explore 40 from Shimoda Design is the ultimate in adventure photography backpacks. Designed as a reaction to real world adventure, and the fatigue of using the options available. The Explore 40 is the perfect size for agile adventures and urban explorers, removing the hassle and anxiety of carrying all your camera gear every day wherever you find yourself.
The Explore 40 features the same modular carry system as all the bags across the Shimoda range. Featuring a very spacious main compartment that is the perfect size to fit a combination of available internal camera unit inserts*, there are near endless ways to pack your gear and everything you might need.
The starter kit includes two of Shimodas small Core units. These camera units feature slimmer-than-most dividers made of asturdy EVA foam, this ensures you can fit the maximum amount of gear without compromising that gears safety. The camera inserts are designed without a flap that needs to be tucked away, instead these camera units come with as standard a 'skin' to store them when they are not in your pack.
The intuitively designed strap system is there to create comfort no matter how heavy the load in the pack is. The ergonomic shoulder straps are wider where they rest against your chest, making it feel like the bag is hugging you; these straps have additional storage space and help to stop the load of the bag shifting on your back. The harness is also height adjustable, meaning the comfort is the same no matter your torso size. The moulded EVA foam back-panel has integrated air flow channels to further increase the comfort of carry.
Your gear is always accessible thanks to the insane amount of storage options available. The bag has a side opening zipped back panel that gives access to the main space of the bag and which features a 13’ padded laptop sleeve. The main compartment is also accessible from the top and side through a large zipper. This side opening also gives you quick access to your camera equipment without having to take the pack fully off .There is also a large pouch on the front of the bag that runs the entire length of the bag, allowing you to stuff anything else you might need during the day, be that layers, food or other essentials. Above the main compartment is a large pouch pocket with several internal zipped mesh pockets. This pocket is separated from the main compartment of the pack and is ideal for any smaller items and tech that you need quick access too such as spare batteries, power banks and chargers. On one side there is another small compartment that holds a stow-able multi-use tri-pod pouch
The pack is designed for adventure photography, made from incredibly tough resin coated rip-stop nylon and using YKK splashguard zippers with real leather zipper pulls, the Explore is incredibly weather resistant super durable, meaning you don’t have to worry about your gear no matter where your adventure takes you.
