About Oakley

Oakley has been innovating in the world of sports products for over 40 years. Today we all know them for their sunglasses, eyewear and ski and snowboard goggles, but that’s not where they initially started. In 1975 Jim Jannard came up with the idea to create a motorcycle handlebar grip that was ergonomic and grippy, even when sweaty or wet. Following its success, Jim felt that the logical approach was to improve another important product - the motocross goggle - and the Oakley O-Frame MX goggle was born. The riders and pro’s loved it because it offered a wide and deep peripheral view with exceptionally sharp vision, using flexible materials that also looked great.

Following the success of the O-Frame, Oakley quickly launched a range of sunglasses designed specifically for sports - expanding their range of to cover skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and BMX. Before long Oakley and the famous O was everywhere, but Jim Jannard didn't stop there. Working closely with a team of athletes, he continued to push the boundary of what was possible - using innovative technology to produce cutting-edge designs that enhance performance and enjoyment.

Oakley’s innovations are a key part of the success of their products. Their High-Definition Optics reduce the light refraction that can cause other lenses to make objects appear magnified or shifted from their actual position. And their Plutonite lens material filters out 100% of all harmful UV rays while providing unrivaled shatter-proof impact protection, to keep your eyes safe.

As you'd expect, Oakley have the same commitment to quality and innovation in their technical outerwear for skiing and snowboarding - focussing on performance, design and quality.
