The Pro Alu III Shovel + Pocket Spike from Ortovox combines an innovative design with the most durable and lightweight materials available to achieve the best weight-to-rigidity ratio possible. This modular shovel allows you to cross icy and steep terrain with extra-security with the addition of the Pocket Spike to the shaft. 

A piolet, a shovel and a hoe walk into a bar

The Pro Alu III Shovel converts rapidly into a practical piolet for tackling dangerous sections whilst skinning and touring. Whilst in shovel mode, the Pro Alu can switch between a regular snow shovelling setup for Rutschblock testing or into a handy hoe-mode for rapid snow shifting in burial situations.

Highest-quality construction 

Stabilisation ribs and high sidewalls give the anodised blade rigidity, while the integrated shaft socket makes it easy to pack. With the new quick-lock, the blade and the fluted telescoping shaft can be put together in one motion. The new T-Grip Pro is revolutionary. It can be inserted for both right and left-handers – and also facilitates economical clearing. 

A capable walking axe conversion

The Pocket Spike has two parts: The sharp forged axe head made of AL 7075 T6 and the shaft spike, which replaces the shovel blade. The two parts snap together to form a single piece with no sharp edges and weighing just 95 grams. Suitable for tours where a little additional support is needed over the last few meters.

    Most items will be dispatched with DPD and are fully track-able. The delivery must be signed for so someone must be at the specified address to accept the items. It is not possible for the delivery driver to leave the packages without a signature.
    In rare cases, rural addresses may be 2 days for delivery. If you are concerned please get in touch before placing order.

Returns

OUR RETURNS POLICY

Generally, we'll be happy to exchange or refund anything you've bought for up to one month from the date you receive it, so long as it’s in perfect, unused condition. If you'd like to return or exchange an item you bought more than one month ago, then you may be able to, but please email us about it first – a small restocking charge may also apply.

Returning or exchanging an item does not affect your statutory rights. You’ll find the official cancellation policy within full our Terms & Conditions.

All orders made between 1 November 2018 and 24 December 2018 are eligible for our extended return period. So, if you’re buying someone a gift and it’s not quite right, you’ve got until 24 March 2019 to return it*.

You’re responsible for the cost of returning items to us, but if you choose an exchange, we’ll be happy to cover the cost of shipping things back to you.
