A true all-mountain performer receives some tech tweaks for a smoother and more stable ride

The QST 106 Skis from Salomon return for 2019 with some crucial dampening improvements. ‘All-Mountain’ is a term we hear a heck of a lot around Freeze HQ, but we’ve got to say - the QST 106 is maybe the best all-mountain ski we’ve seen this season.

Forgiving, stable, and powerful

The QST 106 now uses a layer of basalt for improved damping making it fully suitable for an intermediate skier to have a blast but still powerful and strong enough for the advanced riders to trust as their ‘all-day-every-day’ stick.

Twin rocker for float and ‘Carve Zone’ for bite

The QST 106’s twin rocker profile provides loads of float and responsive pivoting from a long, medium-height rocker shape. Add a touch of camber for superb contact when riding edge-to-edge and you’ve got a grippy, and surprisingly stable, ride. A section of side-cut is focussed for increased edge-grip and power.

The best bits…

  • Spaceframe 3.0 FR - Inverted 3D Woodcore inserted with C/FX3 & Power Transfer Platform.
  • Hook Free Taper –5-point sidecut for easier turning in catchy snow.
  • C/FX 3 – Unique prepreg fibre layer consisting of Carbon, Basalt and Flax woven together, running the full length of the ski. Combines the incredible strength and minimal weight of carbon fibre for stability and reinforcement, with an increased level of dampening and vibration absorption above and beyond anything found on traditional carbon and light ski constructions. Patented and exclusive to Salomon.
  • Pulse Pad – Two layers of rubber elastomer in the tip, tail and underfoot give shock absorption and improve durability of ski.
  • Full Sandwich Sidewall 360° – Full sandwich with ABS sidewall construction extending around the entire sidewall length for maximum contact and terrain adaptability.
  • Total Edge Reinforcement – A fibre reinforcement directly on the edges that provides edge stiffness for improved durability and grip.
