Completely overhauled this season, Salomon’s all-mountain backside QST range now features Endofit tongue design, making the boot 15% lighter than other alpine boots. Coming in at a scratch over 1600g (26.5) this reduction in weight hugely benefits it as an access touring boot.

The stiffest model in the range, the QST Pro 130, is designed for access skiers who want to get off the beaten track, away from the crowds, in pursuit of less accessible powder stashes. The highly responsive 130 flex ensures that there’s no power-loss or sacrifice in performance when the time comes to descend. They’re incredibly versatile too, if the conditions in the backcountry are poor or unsafe they’re just as competent on the frontside, effortlessly riding piste or slack country, meaning they’re a truly all-mountain boot.

Best suited to advanced and expert skiers who want lossless power transfer and ultimate precision to complement their aggressive approach to finding the perfect line.

Built using Salomon’s Twinframe2 technology, which combines flexible polyurethane around the foot with rigid polyamide in the spine and chassis. The PU allows the boot to open easily for assisted entry as well as achieving a better wrap around the liner. The PA promotes power transfer and response through the chassis, giving the boot a progressive flex with powerful rebound.

When in walk mode the QST Pro 130 has 40 degrees of movement making touring and hiking effortless, whilst the Surelock mechanism ensures that the cuff is securely locked into position when in ski mode.

The revolutionary Endofit tongue design provides superior wrapping ability giving an incredibly close-to-foot fit.  The progressive flex of the free-floating tongue gives a softer flex at the top of the movement, becoming stiffer as the boot is compressed more rather than the constant flex of a traditional single piece cuff. This gives you a mellow boot to cruise in on piste and through powder and a stiffer boot for when you’re skiing fast. Unlike more traditional shell types, the free-floating tongue means there’s no “bottoming-out” at the end of the flex range which is a contributing factor to shin-bang and discomfort in traditional boots. The gusseted design also keeps water, slush and snow out when skinning, hiking or riding powder.

The QST Pro 130 features Salomon’s CustomFit race liner, a downhill specific fit that enhances performance and boot feel. Designed to be 80% thermoformable, they can be heat moulded for a bespoke fit should the pre-shaped foam need adjustment.

An oversized pivot between the cuff and clog reduces play which increases precision by providing more torque through the boot’s chassis and in-turn the ski’s edge.

What we say: “The QST Pro 130 flawlessly combines touring, backcounty and frontside versatility with high-response flex and control. The result is a boot which can absolutely rip powder and piste without being a burden on your feet when skinning.”

Your ski boot size may be different from your shoe size. On the whole it is not a good idea to get boots bigger than your shoe size though, they should fit snugly. If you're not certain, you can take advantage of our return service.
