Salomon Ski Biding Brakes
Based in Annecy, France, Salomon started out in 1947 making ski edges and saws. In 1957 they created their first ski binding and in 1966 they invented the world’s first self-releasing heel piece. The innovative quality of their products saw them quickly grow into a huge global brand, and today they manufacture skis, boots, poles, bindings, snowboarding equipment, helmets, trail running shoes and much much more.
Always at the cutting edge of design and development, Salomon have introduced some of the ski industry’s biggest innovations. Back in the late 90's they gave the world the first ever twin-tip ski – the Teneighty – which proved to be an enormous success, giving rise to the freeski movement and paving the way for the huge variety of twin-tips that we see in the market now.
Their Canadian air force team of Mike Douglas, JP Auclair, JF Cusson & more took the 1080 and used it as a tool to pioneer much of what we take for granted in freestyle and freeride skiing today, which is testament to Salomon’s forward-thinking, innovative mindset.
One aim: to make you play
The Salomon family are a close-nit bunch of designers, engineers and athletes who combine to constantly push the envelope when it comes to product design and evolution. They say that their mission is to enable you to play, progress and connect with nature – all of which sounds pretty good in our book.
This is all reflected in their exceptional range of skis, boards, boots, bindings, helmets, poles, clothing, footwear luggage and accessories – which are proving to be some of the most popular in the market.
