FREESTYLE HERITAGE WITH A TOUCH OF ALL-MOUNTAIN PERFORMANCE, THE BASH 116 FILLS IN THE BLANKS LEFT BY ITS PURELY-POWDER COUNTERPART.

Like it’s beefed up sibling - the Bash 135 - the Volkl Bash 116 is a backcountry ski which was borne out of park and freestyle riding. However, unlike its chunky counterpart, the 116 drops almost 20mm off the waist, making it exponentially more versatile across the whole mountain. Whereas the 135 is best-suited for heli or cat-accessed terrain, the Bash 116 is a sensible enough size that you can still get to and from the chairlift at the start and end of each day. And it’s that versatility that also makes it great at staying in control on wind-scoured snow and through choppy crud.

Trick-abilty for nature’s terrain park

First and foremost a super playful powder twin for buttering, hucking, stomping and slashing – regardless of whether you’re riding regular or switch – the Bash 116 takes all the best bits found in Volkl’s park skis and combines them with the big mountain performance you’d find in the likes of the Mantra or Confession. At 116mm underfoot, they’ve got heaps of float for deep conditions without being too obnoxiously big that you struggle to keep them under control when the temperature drops and stuff starts to get crusty.

Supercharged pop

At the heart of the Bash 116 is its multi-layer wood core - giving you long-lasting durability and reliable performance – two things you need in spades when you’re trying to land a rodeo into a meter of fresh with pin point precision. Sling in some carbon stringers to supercharge your pop and keep the ski’s flex consistent from first day to last, and you’ve got one hell of a backcountry freestyle ski that’s got the longevity to last you for years.

The fully rockered Bash 116 is designed for skiers who want a freeski that isn’t just limited to just powder – which is fortunate, because they take chopped up crud, wind-scoured snow and even crust in their stride. The early taper in the tip and tail allow the skier to manoeuvre with almost no effort. A playful powder twin tip ski for easy, drifty turns and tricks, whether you ride forward or switch.

Size Guide

The size chart below provides a basic guide to finding the right ski length based on your height and ability but there are several other factors you should consider before choosing your new skis!

The two most relevant considerations when interpreting the chart below are your weight and the type of skiing you intend to do.

Weight: If you’re a heavier built that the average person of your height then we suggest choosing a longer ski as a heavier skier requires more edge to grip the snow and more base area for floatation in powder and cruddy snow.  Conversely, if you’re a slimmer build you may want to consider going for a shorter ski as you’ll need less edge / ski to support your weight than someone of an ‘average’ build.

Skier Type: Secondly, if you want a ski that’s going to inspire confidence when you’re skiing fast and you like to ski faster than most, then a longer ski is going to be preferable.   The additional edge and float provided by a longer ski will give you a more stable ride.  If, however, you’re more freestyle focussed and you want a ski that’s going to be more nimble and easier to manoeuvre at low speeds then a slightly shorter ski will work better for you as there will be less ski to manage.

If you have any queries at all on finding the right ski or ski size for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for further advice.
